Capital Funding

2026 Legislative Victories: Delivering for District 47A

This year, I continued serving on the Capital Budget Subcommittee within the larger Appropriations Committee in the House of Delegates. We secured a record $29 Million in capital awards—part of a career total of over $58 Million brought home to our district. These wins range from massive storm water management and flood mitigation for the Port Towns Watershed to nearly $2 Million to begin the expansion of the Rolling-Crest Community and Aquatics Center in Chillum.

Below is the line-item breakdown of how your tax dollars are being reinvested directly into our neighborhoods.

Protecting Prince George’s from ICE: The $6 Million Encryption Victory

The Win: $6,000,000 for Police Communication Encryption

The Impact: Prince George’s and its municipalities were among the last in the state without encrypted radio traffic. This allowed ICE to monitor traffic stops and show up on the scene without being called. This funding allows our local departments to finally secure their communications, closing the door on ICE interference and protecting our neighbors.

Infrastructure & Flood Mitigation: $12 Million for the Port Towns

The Win: $10,000,000 Water Quality Loan (forgivable) & $2,000,000 Watershed Grant

The Impact: We are taking a massive step toward ending the systemic flooding that has plagued our families for decades. By securing $12 million for the Port Towns Watershed, we are building a more resilient, safer future for Bladensburg, Colmar Manor, and Cottage City.

Neighborhood Spotlight: Rolling Crest & Chillum

The Win: $1,750,000 for the Rolling-Crest Community and Aquatics Center

The Impact: Chillum is a community that has often been overlooked in the budget process. This year, we changed that. This $1.75 million investment will begin the expansion and modernization of our Community and Aquatics Center, ensuring our families have a first-class facility to gather and play.
